On this edition of Another View, we celebrate the life of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. by focusing on his spirituality and intellect. This month, as the nation celebrates Dr. King’s birthday, our distinguished panel will discuss Dr. King’s extraordinary accomplishments not only as a civil rights leader but also as a distinguished scholar, gifted writer and deeply spiritual being.
Hosted by Another View Executive Producer Linda L. Coles, the program will also address the enormous significance of the inauguration of President Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States and the parallels that exist between this momentous occasion and the vision of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
Guests include Dr. Karen Jackson-Weaver, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Diversity, Princeton University. Dr. Jackson-Weaver was a visiting scholar at the King Center Library and Archives in Atlanta, GA, where she completed research for her dissertation on black women’s leadership during the Civil Rights movement.
Dr. Clement A. Price, Professor of History, Rutgers University. Dr. Price was recently appointed a key role on President Elect Barack Obama’s transition team. He chairs the transition for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). |
