Cyberchase,
an animated adventure series, takes kids (ages
8-11) on a wild ride through cyberspace where
they are challenged to use the power of math.
Back to School with Cyberchase, a TV/web promotion featuring three weeks of key math shows to get kids excited for a new school year, kicks off with the premiere of the all new episode, "A Fraction of a Chance". Designed to help kids get their math skills in gear, Back to School includes core math topics such as fractions, decimals, division, measurement, geometry and financial literacy- with which kids often struggle. At Cyberchase Online (pbskidsgo.org/cyberchase) episodes will be linked to related math-based features on both the kids' and parent/teacher web sites, including games, activities, and tips for parents and educators.
Cyberchase
features cyber-mysteries full of eye-popping animation
and a sly comic lair. Math is fun, math is about
problem solving and, in Cyberchase, boy, does
it come in handy. In the world of cyberspace,
a classic good-versus-evil battle rages! When
the dastardly villain hacker launches a mad mission
to conquer the virtual universe, Motherboard calls
upon three Earth kids for help. They are Jackie,
Matt and Inez-the culturally diverse heroes of
Cyberchase-who travel from their real-world realm,
along with the wise-cracking cyber-bird Digit,
to the colorful virtual vistas of cyberspace where
they vanquish the bad guys in an all-out battle
of wits.
Each
episode takes the kids on a thrilling adventure
driven by a different math concept-from tacking
time in ancient Egyptian tombs, to cracking codes
in creepy caves, or making sense of numbers in
a fractured fairy tale world. In their quest,
the heroes use minds, not muscles, to overcome
obstacles and anger everywhere. Internet-savvy
kids of today can jump into cyberspace and join
the Cyber Squad.
